Battle of Menin Road

On September 20, British and Australian forces attack along the Menin Road at Ypres. Plumer's methodical approach succeeds: limited objectives are taken with relatively modest casualties. September is mostly dry, allowing artillery and aircraft to support the infantry effectively. The offensive gains momentum.
