About This Project

This website presents the wartime diary of a Canadian soldier who served in the First World War from 1916 to 1918. The diary follows his journey from Winnipeg, Manitoba, through training in England, to active service on the Western Front in France.

The transcription is presented alongside photographs of the original handwritten pages so readers can verify the text and experience the source material directly.
