Petain restores order

General Petain works to restore French Army morale through improved conditions rather than punishment alone. He orders better food, more regular leave, and rotation of units out of the worst sectors. Most importantly, he abandons the strategy of breakthrough offensives. French forces will hold their positions and wait for American reinforcements. The burden of offensive operations shifts to the British for the rest of 1917.
