Tuesday Nov 14. Did not sleep all day Getting jolly cold, wet & muddy to be under canvas & fire at same time bombardment stops at noon, a little bombardment still going on. Fritz shells the horse lines on opposite side of the road to our camp. Knutts (R.S.M) told us to get under our tents whilst he issue is shelling duty 7 PM. Wed Nov 15 Had a pretty creepy night in the tent last night 24 cases, a case of shell shock & another lad unconscious (alcohol poisoning) wanted watching the whole time. letter from chum Belle, answer it, our 36 boys return from the line. 11th Can Field Amb take over Red Chateau. loose two boys during the first day. sleep most of the day. Thursday Nov 16 Clean up on the boys about 4.15 slept in afternoon duty at 7 PM.

Friday Nov 17. Slept during morning no dinner, called at 1.30 PM for duty in the line. Leave Tara Hill at 3 PM, Quarries at 4, Bells Pit at 5, got to Creightons dugout, had to yap to get some supper 13th seem determined to starve us
