Ludendorff's third blow

Ludendorff plans a third offensive, Operation Bluecher-Yorck, against the French on the Aisne. The aim is to draw Allied reserves south, away from Flanders, before a final strike at the British. The attack is set for May 27. The target is the Chemin des Dames ridge, the same ground the French attacked so disastrously in April 1917. Four exhausted British divisions have been sent there to rest, directly in the path of the coming assault.
