Germany prepares to attack

In late February 1918, the German buildup on the Western Front accelerates. Ludendorff now has 192 divisions in France, outnumbering the Allies for the first time since 1914. The offensive is planned for mid-March. Allied intelligence detects the buildup but cannot determine the exact point of attack. The most likely targets are the British sector between Arras and the Somme, or the junction between British and French forces farther south.
