The war at this time

Romania enters the war

On August 27, Romania will declare war on Austria-Hungary, joining the Allied Powers. It is the latest nation to join the conflict. The Allies hope the new front will relieve pressure elsewhere. Within four months, the Romanian army will be defeated and Bucharest occupied by the Central Powers. Bedford House, south of Ypres, is a ruined château used as a British headquarters and medical post. The ruins of Ypres (once a prosperous medieval city) extend for miles. The Cloth Hall and Cathedral are skeletal remains.
