Final preparations at Arras

The Battle of Arras is days away. British and Canadian forces have spent months preparing for the offensive. More than 2.5 million shells have been fired in the preliminary bombardment, a million more than at the Somme. The Arras attack is part of a coordinated Allied plan. The British will strike first to draw German reserves north, then the French will launch their main offensive on the Aisne a week later. French commander General Nivelle has promised decisive victory within 48 hours.
